This recording was performed live on April 19, 2012 at the first Disquiet Junto concert at Enemy in Chicago, USA. The instructions were to perform a live-version of the Disquiet Junto Project 0003: “The Expanded Glass Harp.” The piece is accompanied by KG Price on glass harmonica.

Disquiet Junto is a collaborative music-making space in which restraints are used as a springboard for creativity. It is produced in association with Disquiet.com, a webzine founded by Mark Weidenbaum.

The above audio is a live soundboard recording of the April 19, 2012 Disquiet Junto concert at Enemy in Chicago. The audio was uploaded at Archive.org in the Community Audio collection. My set begins at the 1hr 13min mark.

The performers are in order: Aroon Karuna, Erik Schoster (with Jason Nanna on glass harmonica and Wesley Charles Tank on vocals), Jason Shanley (aka Cinchel), Jason Soliday (with Michael Esposito on glass harmonica), Jon Monteverde (aka XYZR_KX), Joshua Davison (aka Stringbot), Jeff Kolar (with Kg Price on glass harmonica), and Ryan Dunn. Disquiet Junto founder Marc Weidenbaum is heard at the opening, intermission, and end.

I will be performing at the first live Disquiet Junto group show at Enemy on Thursday, April 19 at 9PM. At this concert, Chicago-area Junto participants will each perform a piece of Expanded Glass Harmonica, and additional original work. More information on the event here.

Enemy is as a venue for noise, free jazz, and avant guard electronic art founded in 2005 by Jason Soliday. Enemy is located at 1550 N Milwaukee AVE 3RD Floor, Chicago, USA.

After a weeklong residency at the Flynn Center for the Performing Arts and the University of Vermont’s Center For Digital Initiatives, I performed a work-in-progress showing of Live Dance Archive with choreographer Jennifer Monson and lighting designer Joe Lavasseur.

Live Dance Archive is a solo dance work that explores the dancing body in conjunction with the moving image of video and other media as an archive of place, experience and systems.

I am performing an original audio score for dance at the annual February Dance Event at the University of Illinois’ Colwell Playhouse Theatre on February 2-4 at 7:30pm CST.

Dance at Illinois resident artists Rebecca Nettl-Fiol, Linda Lehovec, Jennifer Monson, and Renée Wadleigh and Isreali guest artist Sahar Azimi present restaged and new works with an eclectic mix of sound scores, featuring the technical artistry of the students.

I am working on a new project with choreographer Jennifer Monson; video artist, Robin Vachel; lighting designer, Joe Lavasseur; and costume designer, Susan Becker called “Live Dance Archive.” The above video documents an informal showing of the work at the Eden’s Expressway for the 2012 Association of Performing Arts Presenters (APAP) in New York City.

The work is commissioned by The Kitchen, a interdisciplinary center for media, literacy, and performing arts founded in 1971.

APAP is the national service and advocacy organization dedicated to developing and supporting the performing arts presenting field.

I am pleased to announce the official release of Start Up/Shut Down on Panospria Collection and No Type Records with cover design by Jeremy Stephen Shedd. The work is available for free download on Archive.org, and can be streamed online here in the Panospria release catalog.

PANOSPRIA is a net-label for experimental music which is based primarily in Vancouver, Canada. It was established in Montréal in 2004 to showcase the strange sounds of a core collective of Canadian artists, as well as music by their friends and other international guests. In 2007 became an official branch of NO TYPE RECORDS.

Start Up/Shut Down is a set of short iterations, remixes, and refinements of Window and Macintosh operating system event sounds.

An installation of Hallmark Cards will be exhibited at the 2011 GLI.TC/H Festival. The Chicago opening reception is at MBLABS on November 3 at 7pm, and later travels to Amsterdam, NL at PLANETART on November 11-12.

GLI.TC/H is an annual international noise and [dirty] new-media event/conference/symposium/festival/gathering for artists, thinkers, performers, makers and breakers.
